Why we never charge the children's families

A child should not need to pay to paint, play or take part in a celebration. At Sonqo Wasi, all direct activities for children and their families are free. That applies to a two-hour workshop as much as to a school series or a full-day community gathering. There is no fee at the door and no charge for materials.

Free does not mean without costs. Paper, colours and other supplies need to be brought to each location. Travel takes the facilitators to the community, and local partners may have practical costs in helping us welcome children safely. We plan these needs before each activity and keep the format simple so that resources go where they are useful.

Donations help cover those costs. Volunteers contribute their time and skills, and separate initiatives for adult supporters can help sustain the work without charging the children. Our founders and trustees receive no salaries. We do not distribute profits, and we send a receipt for every donation.
