Holi for Children: planning the next celebration in India

Children taking part in games during a Sonqo Wasi encounter

Holi is the traditional Indian festival of colours that welcomes spring. People throw coloured powder, play music and share food in the streets. It is one of the most joyful days of the year, and children love it.

Holi for Children is a Sonqo Wasi celebration inspired by this festival. The idea is simple: a day of colours, games, music and dance with children from a local community, organised together with a partner school or community group. Everyone takes part, no one is left out, and everything is free.

A typical celebration includes a creative painting workshop, movement games, songs, a shared meal and a closing moment where the children can share what they enjoyed most.

We are currently in contact with local partners to plan the next edition. If you would like to help, you can volunteer (we especially welcome people with experience in art, music or photography) or support the costs of materials and travel with a donation. Write to us at tribu@sonqowasi.org.
